Submission 43: This ensemble reminds me of Robin Hood! I wonder what was the true inspiration behind this outfit?

Extreme Modification Contest

Participants were asked to modify a Doll Family-A Practice head without any limitations placed on tools, materials or methods used.

First Place winner! What a creative submission! The base head used is completely unrecognizable. The texturing of the resin to resemble bark is particularly impressive!

Submission 27: The mouth area was modified quite a bit on this entry. I liked the addition of horns as well. I wonder if they were sculpted on or attached via magnets/glue?

Submission 31: I loved the concept behind this modification! My favorite part is the beautifully designed handle with delicate gold accents.

Submission 34: A lot of work went into modifying the mouth and the ears on this entry! The teeth in particular are masterfully sculpted.

Submission 40: Major mouth modification on this one! The scar goes up to the nostril and there are little sculpted on teeth, which I wasn’t able to capture effectively due to poor lighting in the vendor hall.

Submission 48: I loved the flowers sculpted onto the head of this entry! They appeared to be pansies to me. Very pretty!

  1. Entry number 1 of ready made…..yay! David Bowie as the Goblin King from the movie Labyrinth! That’s his costume from the ballroom scene! He’s gorgeous!

  2. How nice that you took the time to photograph all the entries for the various contests! It’s great to get a feeling of how awesome the event must have been >_< I hope I get to go to one next year 😀

    1. I hope you get to go as well! It’s definitely worth it, if you can make it happen. Hopefully, we’ll get more information about the next one soon!

  3. Wow!! So any collectors have great talent!!

I may be wrong but I think the bird skull head is a West Nile Christopher head from Etsy (seller stinesculpture)!

  4. Thanks for posting! My doll is #12. She’s based off of “kikis delivery service’ which is where my colors came from. :3 Despite the lighting, you have taken wonderful pictures!

    1. I would have been scared to transport it as well! You did an awesome job. I doubt I would be able to put something like this together in 3 hours!

  5. Great pictures! You took a really nice one of my Wonder Woman (#41).

    Everyone’s entries were outstanding 🙂

    1. Wonder Woman was gorgeous! Which sculpt is she, Doll Chateau? If you would like me to add your name to the entry description and/or a sentence or two about inspiration behind the costume, let me know. I’d be happy to do so! 🙂

  6. Thanks for showing the contest entries! I found some pics stalking flickr and tumblr, but I was curious to see the rest, it looks like the event was a success! I hope next time I can be there 🙂

    1. The event was definitely a success! I will definitely be there next time, if nothing terribly important comes up!
